I have spent quite a bit of time lately learning soccer lingo, soccer rules and buying cute soccer stuff. I think I am going to like soccer…
First, Violet looks really cute in her soccer socks, shin guards and cleats.
Then there’s the possibility that she might be really good at it. Although she’s never played before, she is picking up ball dribbling, trapping and kicking pretty quickly.
On top of that, I am going to be helping Violet’s coach with the team. Not like a water/towel girl but like an assistant coach. Of course, I don’t know much about soccer yet but she’ll let me know what drills she wants me to help with and what-not.
Another plus? Soccer practice makes Violet sweat. The first thing she wants to do when she gets home is take a shower. Not to say that she’s a stinky girl, but her showering without a discussion on when she last bathed (I just bathed last night!) or whether she has reached a sufficiently dirty state (I’m not even dirty!) is kind of nice.
Another reason to love soccer - David Beckham. You can’t research soccer without coming across David Beckham. But he’s not just fun to look at - he’s fun to play with too. Check out the interactive David Beckham paper doll. I have to admit that the paper doll doesn’t really do him justice - know what I mean?

Soccer practice again on Sunday. First game on Monday. Sadly, David Beckham won’t be there and none of Violet’s teammates have David Beckham-looking dads. Although one of them has a pretty hot car :-)
