Nearly there…

Posted on April 30th, 2008 in Daily, Kids by virginia

Eighteen days from now 2 more of our little birds will be thrown from the nest out into the cold cruel world. Ok, maybe not out into the cold cruel world. In fact, on the surface nothing will change. But still, graduation day is fast approaching. April and Jon will be done with high school and technically we will be finished (ha!) raising them.

In mid-August they will move from our house to the dorms at college. When that happens, our tuition bills will increase (3 kids in college - ahhhh!), but my laundry will decrease significantly and that’s something to cheer about!

More pictures in the photo album.

How exciting…you must be a pro at this launching business! And paying for the kids’ tuition too! That’s great.

I’m sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but the laundry does not decrease one iota. Honey, they save it up all semester and bring it home. You have the same amount, but no longer in the steady stream it once was.

Bless you as these two head off down the road. The university officials at my two oldest daughters’ schools had to pry them from my Kung Fu grip. Thank Heavens I still have Laura at home . . . and when her time for college comes, I’m going too. ;-)

Jummy - I am getting to be a pro! And thankfully, both April and Jon have received scholarships that will help tremendously with the tuition.

Cheri - No Kung Fu grip here. In fact, I have to work harder at hiding my glee - it makes the kids sad. This is #4 & #5 to be sent off to college. And the truth is, after 24 years of parenting, I am glad to be coming down the home stretch. When it’s time for the last one to leave home and all the others are too busy with their lives to give me the time of day, that is probably when I’ll start weeping for “my baay-bies!” You’re right on target with the laundry but I’m mean. Happy to let them use the laundry room and supplies, but I make ‘em wash it themselves ;-)
